The A-Mark Prizes return for their second year, recognizing and celebrating outstanding investigative journalism that uncovers hidden truths, holds power to account, and drives meaningful public awareness or reform across New England.
Planning to enter the Publick Occurrences Award or the New England First Amendment Award? Good news: your entry is automatically considered for the A-Mark Prizes at no additional cost. There is no separate entry form or fee required.
Building on a successful inaugural year, the A-Mark Prizes continue to honor ambitious, deeply reported journalism that exposes wrongdoing, examines complex issues, and creates lasting impact in the communities we serve. In addition to professional recognition, winners receive cash awards, have their work featured on the NENPA website, and may be highlighted through NENPA’s digital platforms and publications—bringing recognition to your reporting far beyond your newsroom.
The contest is free to enter and is open to journalists and publications throughout New England whose primary medium is the written word, including reporters, columnists, investigative journalists, freelancers, newspapers, and online news sites. Eligible work must have been published between June 1, 2025, and May 31, 2026.
With up to $90,000 in prizes available across the six New England states, the competition offers up to $15,000 per state to recognize journalism that protects the public’s right to know. The awards are funded by the A-Mark Foundation, a nonpartisan nonprofit dedicated to supporting and encouraging investigative reporting and journalistic excellence.
Whether your reporting uncovered hidden truths, held powerful institutions accountable, examined complex issues, or inspired meaningful change, this is an opportunity to have your work recognized by your peers while competing for significant cash awards.
Recipients of the A-Mark Prizes will be honored during the Fall Awards Luncheon at NENPA’s 2026 Fall Leadership Conference on October 9, 2026, at the Publick House Historic Inn in Sturbridge, Massachusetts.
The deadline to enter is July 10, 2026. Be sure to visit the A-Mark Prize page for complete guidelines, eligibility requirements, and to explore previous winners.
