It takes highly skilled, passionate and determined individuals to produce high quality publications. Each year NENPA recognizes the achievements of the very best newspaper professionals in New England in our Better Newspaper Competition.
This is the largest and most comprehensive journalism recognition program in the region — NENPA member newspapers from Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island and Vermont are invited to enter. Work published by daily, weekly and specialty newspapers is eligible for this competition.
- The competition includes three divisions…
- Editorial/Multimedia/Photography: Entries accepted in over 75 competitive categories, including reporting in a variety of topic areas, columns, editorials, sections, design, photos, videos, slideshows, mobile apps, and the use of social media.
- Advertising/Circulation/Promotion: Entries accepted in over 35 competitive categories that will recognize excellent revenue and audience building initiatives, including the Ad Salesperson of the Year.
- Specialty/Niche Publications: Entries accepted in over 45 competitive categories for biweekly, monthly and specialty topic newspapers that recognize outstanding work in all facets of a newspaper’s journalism and marketing activities.
There is a separate packet of information for each division with specific rules that you can refer to when preparing your entries.
The awards are presented at the February New England Newspaper Convention held in Boston each year.
