CIRCULATION SALES & MARKETING MANAGER

The Telegram & Gazette, the leading media company in Central Massachusetts, has an opening for a Circulation Sales & Marketing Manager to help develop strategy and oversee consumer sales and retention for all print and digital products. The T&G’s product portfolio includes the largest circulation publication in Worcester County; plus telegram.com, the region’s most prominent website; the eEdition of the T&G; and Worcester Living magazine. We’re looking for a manager with understanding of audiences and needs in developing offers and campaigns through social as well as traditional media, including direct mail and event sales; and the team building skills to pull together different departments and vendors in a cohesive consumer marketing push. The goal is to grow print and digital circulation by producing high quality orders and by managing subscriber churn and retention in the most cost effective ways.

The ideal candidate has five years of successful experience in sales management and sales in developing and executing news media or other campaigns; and is competent in marketing and sales methodology and metrics in both print and digital worlds, including social media. Must be detail oriented in putting into play disparate elements of a sales campaign and have the vision and energy to inspire a staff and manage vendors in achieving print and digital subscription goals. Responsibilities include event sales, and growth of the T&G Rewards program and its Newspaper in Education program.

The position reports to the Director of Readership & Circulation. Compensation includes base pay plus monthly bonus plan, earned vacation, the option to participate in an excellent benefit package including health, life, dental and disability insurance and a 401K plan.

Digital Advertising Sales Manager

Job Summary:

The Digital Advertising Sales Manager is responsible for attaining budgeted online advertising revenue for The Republican.  Work with the advertising sales staff to create and foster marketing partnerships with and provide customer service to new and existing local, regional and national advertisers.  Develop client relationships, maintain and increase revenues across all online products to increase market share and to meet revenue objectives.

Job Functions:

  • Must demonstrate ability to develop strategic plans and execute on commitments, as well as a proven track record of developing talent while exceeding stated budgets.
  • Utilizing internal and external intelligence, formulate and implement new products/packaging, resulting in new revenue.
  • Establish, manage and maintain a pipeline of accounts with sales staff utilizing SalesForce.com customer relations management system. 
  • Plan one-on-one and weekly sales meetings to diagnose the potential for improving performance and activate plans to coach/mentor sales team.
  • Provide ongoing in-field training including prospecting, client calls, proposal development, closing business and account management.
  • Evaluate staff on an on-going basis verbally and in writing.
  • Coordinate with training department to schedule professional development with new and existing sales staff as needed. 
  • Provide weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual sales forecasts to align with existing and future budgets.
