SEASONED NEWSPAPER PROFESSIONAL

New England native in California the past three decades with 25 years experiences as a reporter, copy editor, columnist, assistant news editor in charge of special sections, opinion page editor, assistant city editor, blogger, online staff writer, and business journal editor is seeking right opportunity in native land. A run-of-the-mill newspaper job won’t spur me to leave sunny Northern California; it has to be the right opportunity in print and/or online, if there is such a thing anymore.

What I would bring to the right publication are writing and editing skills that have been honed over the past 24 years. I have hammered out breaking news stories, formed compelling features, crafted persuasive commentary, and deftly edited copy on deadline. I have mentored young reporters, copy editors, and freelancers, and have been in charge of major projects from conception to publication. I have used website content management systems to write and post breaking news, photos, info boxes and sidebars on a newspaper website. And I have shot photographs for print and website. My work has been recognized with several statewide and regional honors, and you can view samples of that work on my online portfolio. I actively maintain two blogs on two different platforms and use social media. I can bring these skills, experiences and results to the right publication.

My resume and work samples can be found at http://keithmichaud.wordpress.com/. My professional profile can be viewed at www.linkedin.com/in/keithmichaud. Keith Michaud keith.l.michaud@gmail.com

Sports Reporter

With experience covering sports at all levels across print and digital platforms, I believe that I can make a great contribution to the sports department of a New England media organization.

I am currently based in Albuquerque, New Mexico, but willing to relocate back to the region I consider “home.” I’m working as both a content contributor for INDYCAR and as a freelancer in live sports TV production. However, I’m looking to return to a proper media role.

My previous experience includes four years as a motor sports contributor for FoxSports.com and a three-year run as a Boston Globe sports correspondent -- much of that stint taking place while I earned my journalism degree from Northeastern University. I’ve also freelanced for The News Journal in Wilmington, Del. (2009-10), and served as an intern in 2006 with The Patriot Ledger in Quincy, Mass. My time at the Globe, News Journal and Ledger all featured extensive coverage of high school sports.

Additional work of mine includes: Writing a regular blog on IndyCar racing (IndyRacingRevolution.com) for the last five years; a recent media relations internship at the Albuquerque Isotopes baseball club with an emphasis on feature writing for the club’s website and publications; and two years as a “guest columnist” for the website of Panther Racing.

In terms of skills, I am well-versed in AP style, Microsoft Office/Word/Excel, Corel Wordperfect, multiple blog publishing systems (WordPress, Movable Type, Blogger and Joomla) and social media (Facebook, Twitter and YouTube). I also have past experience with basic HTML and the CCI news production system.

I am a versatile writer that can cover a wide range of subjects in a variety of ways (game coverage, “notebooks,” features, etc.). I also have a willingness to learn essential new skills that can help a newspaper continue to be a valued news source for its readers. My official resume, writing samples and references are available upon request. Thank you for your time and consideration.

Sports Staff

I recently relocated to Massachusetts from North Carolina. I'm seeking a position on the sports staff of a newspaper in the New England area.

I have a total of 15 years experience as a sports reporter and photographer. My most recent position was as sports editor for five years (2007-2012) at The Courier-Times in Roxboro, NC, a community newspaper that publishes twice a week.

My duties there included covering local high school and middle school sports, little league baseball and softball, American Legion baseball, recreational sports, and auto racing at the area speedway. I was also responsible for the entire layout of the sports section and have extensive experience with programs such as Adobe InDesign and Photoshop.

My other experience includes six years as a sports/news correspondent for the Brattleboro Reformer in Brattleboro, Vt., one year as sports reporter and editor for the Deerfield Valley News in Wilmington, Vt.,and four years covering sports for the Topsail Voice in Hampstead, NC.

At The Courier-Times, I received a second-place award for Best Sports Coverage in the state in 2010 and received a Gold Star honor for the paper's Annual Fall Sports Preview speicial section. While writing for the Topsail Voice, I contributed to the paper receiving first place in the state for sports coverage in 2006 and second place in 2005.
