Morgan McGinley was the editorial page editor of The Day of New London, CT for 25 years, and for a local newspaper, The Day developed outsized influence in Connecticut by writing superlative comment on statewide issues and hosting statewide debates. Morgan rose to be the president of the National Conference of Editorial Writers where he personally raised much of the funding for the NCEW Minority Writers Project. Morgan served as a Pulitzer Prize Juror in 2004 and 2005, and he was president of the Connecticut Council on Freedom of Information. As president of the New England Society of Newspaper Editors, Morgan led an exchange of journalists with the Soviet Union. Morgan currently serves on the Connecticut Judicial-Media Committee, the board of the Connecticut Foundation for Open Government, and The Connecticut News Project.
