Connelly is the long-time co-publisher and editor of The Hardwick Gazette in Vermont. The paper has a reputation for excellence in journalism and community service due to his dedication to the highest ideals of the profession. He has served as president of the Vermont Press Association and the New England Press Association. He was also the founding chairman of the Vermont Coalition for Open Government.
